Boller To Remain Ravens’ QB Despite Blowout

                   Baltimore Ravens quarterback Kyle Boller

If there’s one thing that is a constant with the Baltimore Ravens, it is this: quarterback issues.  But to a degree, team head coach Brian Billick addressed that issue Monday by reiterating that quarterback Kyle Boller will remain the Ravens’ quarterback for the balance of the regular season.

Boller turned in one of his worst performances of the season last Sunday night, passing for only 132 yards and throwing 3 interceptions.  Billick told Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County (MD) Times, “Kyle is our starting quarterback.  It was nice to get Troy in a little bit and get his feet wet.  If that presents itself going forward, that would probably be a good thing.  But our best chance to win going forward is Kyle Boller remaining our starter.”  The Troy that Billick was referring to was reserve QB Troy Smith.

Billick defended Boller’s decision-making on the field despite the mistakes that have been a trademark of Boller throughout his career.  My take is this - like it or not, Boller is next season’s QB; as his recent contract signing would dictate.  But if he continues to have games like he had last week, he’ll be on a very short leash.  Boller is no doubt talented, but talent alone only takes you so far in the NFL.
