Rosburg Hired As Special Teams Coach

The Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday hired Jerry Rosburg as special teams coach; the move could have some special meaning as current team head coach John Harbaugh was the special teams coach for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1998-2006.  He replaces Frank Gansz, Jr., who was fired on December 31 when the Ravens dismissed Brian Billick and his entire staff; Rosburg joins offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and re-hired defensive coordinator Rex Ryan.

Rosburg coached the Atlanta Falcons’ special teams last season after spending the last 6 seasons in the same position with the Cleveland Browns; in 2006, Cleveland ranked among the top 15 in punt return average, kickoff return average and net punting average.  Rosburg was also a college coach for 20 years, including the 1999-2000 seasons as Notre Dame’s cornerbacks and special teams coach.
