Former Tackle Brown to Become Starting Center

The Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Ravens have stated that OT Jason Brown is going to be the teams starting center in 2008 on their new O-line. Brown played left guard last season, and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron stated he feels good about moving Brown to the center of the line. “We felt like it was a natural to move him back because the center is the leader of your offensive line,” Cameron said yesterday. “Right now, he’s the leader.” Ben Grubbs will go from right guard to left guard, Marshal Yanda will move to right guard from right tackle, and right now the tackles will be Adam Terry and Jared Gaither.

While it appears that the Baltimore Ravens starting interior offensive line positions have been determined, both of the tackle spots are far from settled. Assuming the Ravens sign free agent OT Barry Sims and hand him retired Jonathan Ogden’s LT spot, I believe that Adam Terry then starts at RT. It gets more interesting if Barry Sims does not sign with the Ravens. Then, I think Adam Terry becomes the LT and RT is a contest between 2007 Supplemental Draft pick Jared Gaither and rookie Oniel Cousins who was a 2008 regular draft pick. My money would be on Cousins to eventually emerge as the starting RT since he was initially a defensive tackle who has the physical makeup of former Ravens RT Orlando Brown (affectionately known as Zeus).
