Under the protection of his offensive line, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Troy Smith (10) looks for a receiver during the second quarter of an NFL preseason football game against the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass., Thursday night, Aug. 7, 2008.

Since it appears that no particular quarterback is standing out from the crowd, Troy Smith will get additional playing time during the Ravens’ third preseason game against the St. Louis Rams on Saturday, according to the Associated Press; team head coach John Harbaugh stated that Smith will get an extended look from the coaching staff and may possibly take all of the snaps with the first team; Harbaugh added that he may make the decision on the team’s starting quarterback one week from the team’s regular season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 7.
