From the Baltimore Sun

The Ravens signed Billy Cundiff to be their new kicker, the team announced Wednesday.

The addition of Cundiff comes one day after the Ravens released Steve Hauschka, who missed three of his last seven field goals and had an extra point blocked.

Cundiff, 29, has made 66 of 89 career field goals (74.2 percent). He last played for the Cleveland Browns (beating out Matt Stover in a workout), but he was released Nov. 3 after Phil Dawson recovered from a pulled right calf muscle. Cundiff converted all six field goals for the Browns this season.

My ability to pick the new kickers is just as good as Steve Haushcka’s ability to kick clutch field goals. I picked Gano before the season and thought Nugent would get the nod this week.

It remains to be seen if Billy Cundiff is the long term solution or not. But my gut feeling is there is a reason he’s on his ninth team in eight seasons in the NFL.
